About this role
A Medication Access Coordinator at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth supports specialty pharmacy operations and patient medication access at the Bolingbrook, Illinois campus.
### What you'll do
- Complete prior authorization forms and negotiate authorization status with insurers, tracking approval status and escalating denials to clinical pharmacists.
- Enroll patients in patient assistance programs and collaborate with social services and case management to prevent therapy interruptions.
- Facilitate adherence by ensuring timely delivery of prescribed medications, making scheduled calls to gather clinical information, and processing prescription refills.
- Document and triage patient therapy problems to the appropriate pharmacist, and assist with coordination of prescription filling, packaging, and delivery.
- Develop marketing materials and communication strategies under pharmacy management guidance to increase prescription capture rates for high-cost medications.
- Train new specialty pharmacy technician staff and coordinate with the manager to maintain a competency program.
### What we're looking for
- Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) and Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credentials required.
- 5+ years of ambulatory or specialty pharmacy experience required.
- Demonstrated experience with pharmacy benefits plans and secondary insurance/copay assistance programs.
- Ability to interpret prescriptions, apply medical terminology, and perform pharmaceutical calculations.
- Strong multitasking, critical thinking, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Basic to moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is a faith-based health system serving the greater Chicago area, with the Bolingbrook campus located at 500 Remington Blvd. The specialty pharmacy team operates Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., embedded within ambulatory clinics to support high-cost medication access for patients across multiple disease states.
