A Consumer Access Specialist at AdventHealth Redmond handles patient registration, insurance verification, and financial counseling at the hospital campus in Rome, Georgia.
### What you'll do
- Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage as required
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain pre-authorizations, and coordinate with utilization management staff on pre-authorization issues
- Register patients for all services, collect accurate demographic and insurance information, and minimize duplicate medical records
- Create patient financial responsibility estimates, collect payments, and establish payment plans
- Manage communication across clinical, ancillary, and consumer access departments to support the patient experience
- Perform cashiering functions including cash collections and reconciliation, and provide PBX switchboard coverage as needed
### What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
- 1+ year of experience in customer service, healthcare, or revenue cycle (preferred)
- Basic to intermediate medical terminology and working knowledge of insurance benefits
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, database programs, and hospital EMR systems
- Knowledge of CMS, EMTALA, and HIPAA compliance requirements
- Bilingual English/Spanish and certifications such as CHAA or CRCR are preferred
