About this role

A part-time Pharmacy Technician role at AdventHealth Port Charlotte supports inpatient pharmacy operations at the hospital's Port Charlotte, Florida campus. ### What you'll do - Accurately prepare and dispense patient-specific medication doses, verifying drug, dose, dosage form, expiration date, and barcode scanning at each step. - Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot medication automation systems, automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs), and pharmacy software while interpreting electronic health records. - Maintain inventory integrity through stock rotation, expired-medication removal, and accurate counts and documentation. - Identify, report, and help prevent medication errors — including look-alike/sound-alike risks — to support a culture of safety. - Handle, process, and dispose of hazardous waste materials in compliance with safety protocols using appropriate PPE, spill kits, and environmental procedures. - Participate in quality-improvement initiatives and support compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements. ### What we're looking for - Active Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) license required. - High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred. - Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and customer-service skills. - Ability to work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and follow formal management direction. - Proficiency in basic computer skills and Microsoft Office; hospital computer system and automation experience preferred. - Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to identify and escalate pharmacy operational discrepancies. ### What's included - Pay range: $17.11–$27.38/hour ($35,589–$56,950 annualized). - Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance effective Day One. - Paid time off from Day One. - 403(b) retirement plan. - Four weeks of 100% paid parental leave. - Mental health resources, well-being programs, and pet benefits. ### About the practice AdventHealth Port Charlotte is a faith-based, not-for-profit hospital located at 2500 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33952, part of the AdventHealth system.
