A Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant role at AdventHealth Waterman in Tavares, Florida, supporting surgical teams across operating suites in a full-time, day-shift capacity.
### What you'll do
- Set up operating suites using surgeon preference cards and maintain accuracy of those cards throughout procedures.
- Provide intraoperative assistance including tissue retraction, sponging, suction, irrigation, and visualization of the operative field.
- Achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis and assist with body plane closures, wound dressings, and drainage system placement.
- Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures, anticipating the surgeon's needs in real time.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique, perform surgical hand scrubs, and monitor team members for breaks in sterile field integrity.
- Complete instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator and participate in surgical site time-out verification.
### What we're looking for
- Active certification as SA-C, CSA, CSFA, or AS-C (ABSA, NCCSA, NBSTSA, NASC, or State-issued) required.
- Current BLS/CPR certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant surgical technology or first-assistant experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical anatomy, operative techniques, and instrument handling.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with surgeons, nursing staff, and the broader OR team.
