About this role
A full-time Histotechnologist joins AdventHealth Waterman's pathology laboratory in Tavares, Florida, working a day-shift Monday–Friday schedule.
### What you'll do
- Process and prepare tissue specimens through embedding, microtomy, routine and special histologic staining, frozen sectioning, and cover slipping.
- Perform immunohistochemical staining, cytology specimen preparation, and special stains while maintaining quality control documentation.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment; troubleshoot and resolve instrument and test-performance issues.
- Register, order, and accession pathology specimens into the laboratory information system.
- Participate in proficiency testing programs and support continuous laboratory service improvement.
- Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new employees, histotechnicians, and histology students as needed.
### What we're looking for
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a histotechnologist or in a histology laboratory setting.
- Associate's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science field (Florida); Bachelor's degree preferred or required depending on division/state.
- Completion of a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited clinical laboratory training program or equivalent documented training hours.
- Working knowledge of specimen handling from accession through storage, medical terminology, and CLIA/safety regulations.
- Proficiency in complex histological procedures including data recording, analysis, and instrument maintenance.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office; ability to communicate effectively with clinical staff and pathologists.
