Consumer Access Specialist PRN

A Consumer Access Specialist (PRN) at AdventHealth Ottawa handles patient registration, insurance verification, and financial counseling at the hospital's access and admissions functions in Ottawa, Kansas. ### What you'll do - Register patients for all hospital services, collecting accurate demographic and insurance information to minimize duplicate medical records - Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain pre-authorizations, and coordinate with utilization management staff on coverage issues - Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage (ABNs) as required - Generate patient financial responsibility estimates, collect payments, and establish payment plans - Manage switchboard (PBX) coverage, including answering and transferring calls during assigned shifts - Perform cashiering functions including collections and accurate cash reconciliation ### What we're looking for - High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred - 1+ year of customer service, healthcare, or revenue cycle experience preferred - Basic to intermediate medical terminology knowledge - Familiarity with insurance benefits, EMR systems, and Microsoft Office programs - Working knowledge of CMS, EMTALA, and HIPAA compliance guidelines - Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; CHAA or CRCR certification a plus ### What's included - Pay range: $17.40–$27.84 per hour ($36,192–$57,907 annualized) - PRN/per-diem schedule covering night and weekend shifts - Access to AdventHealth's broader team member benefits platform ### About the practice AdventHealth Ottawa is a community hospital located at 1301 S.
