About this role
AdventHealth Waterman is hiring a full-time Surgical Technologist II specializing in Open Heart procedures at its hospital in Tavares, Florida.
### What you'll do
- Check supplies and equipment required for open heart and other surgical procedures before each case.
- Scrub, gown, and glove for surgical procedures; gown and glove the surgeon and assistants.
- Set up sterile field with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions appropriate to each procedure and patient positioning.
- Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts with the circulating nurse before the operation and before incision closure.
- Anticipate critical emergencies as part of the Specialty Call Team and respond accordingly.
- Assist with terminal cleaning of the OR suite and preparation for the next patient.
### What we're looking for
- Active Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technician in Surgery – Certified (NTSC) credential required.
- Current BLS/CPR certification required.
- High school diploma or equivalent plus completion of an accredited technical/vocational surgical technology program required; Associate degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a certified surgical technologist preferred.
- Proficiency in at least two surgical specialties preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, sterilization, and sterile field setup.
