Medical Laboratory Scientist II Evening

AdventHealth Altamonte Springs is hiring a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist II for the evening shift (2p–10:30p, Monday–Friday with rotating weekends) at its hospital in Altamonte Springs, Florida. ### What you'll do - Perform high-complexity laboratory testing across all age groups, including pre-analytical and post-analytical activities, QC, calibration, and equipment maintenance. - Guide and direct workflow for technicians and support staff, resolving customer service issues and supporting clinical staff education. - Conduct proficiency testing and ensure adherence to federal, state, and institutional regulations and accrediting body standards. - Document and submit required laboratory, departmental, and staff statistics and reports. - Participate in the evaluation of new laboratory techniques and procedures, and assist with data collection for special projects. - Serve as a preceptor for new employees and medical technology students, documenting their training progress. ### What we're looking for - Associate's degree (or higher) in a laboratory science, chemical/biological science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution — or equivalent U.S. military medical laboratory training. - MLS(ASCP) or MLS(AMT) certification (formerly MT) preferred; additional state licensure may apply. - 1+ years of clinical laboratory experience preferred. - Ability to work independently, adapt to shifting priorities, and direct workflow with minimal supervision. - Proficiency with laboratory computer systems and Microsoft Office. - Strong communication skills with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. ### What's included - Pay range: $23.71–$44.09/hour (~$49,316–$91,707 annualized). - $10,000 sign-on bonus with a 1-year commitment (qualified candidates). - $3,000 relocation assistance (qualified candidates). - Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance effective Day One. - Paid Time Off from Day One; 4 weeks of 100% paid parental leave. - 403(b) retirement plan. ### About the practice AdventHealth Altamonte Springs is a faith-based, community-focused hospital located in Altamonte Springs, Florida, part of the AdventHealth system — one of the largest not-for-profit Protestant health systems in the United States.
