About this role
A Patient Care Technician on the Post-Surgical unit at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Hinsdale, Illinois, supports bedside patient care on a night shift schedule within an acute inpatient setting.
### What you'll do
- Perform treatments per policy, delivering age-, mobility-, acuity-, and culture-appropriate patient care under registered nurse direction
- Respond appropriately in clinical emergencies and follow prescribed isolation and infection-control protocols
- Document and report all procedures, observations, and abnormalities to the supervising RN in accordance with department policy
- Assist in obtaining nursing histories and identifying patient needs
- Maintain a clean, safe environment for patients and staff
- Participate in performance-improvement activities and support quality standards and initiatives
### What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Minimum 1 year of applicable PCT experience; prior bedside care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, or monitor technician role accepted
- Active BLS/CPR certification (required)
- One of the following credentials: CNA, CPCT/A, or EMT (required)
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays on a 36-hour/week night schedule (6:45 PM–7:15 AM)
