About this role
AdventHealth is hiring a full-time Charge Nurse for the Progressive Care and ICU unit on nights at AdventHealth Lenexa City Center in Lenexa, Kansas.
### What you'll do
- Coordinate and oversee patient care across Progressive Care and ICU, collaborating with physicians, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure continuity.
- Develop, implement, and adjust individualized care plans based on ongoing patient assessments and medical orders.
- Supervise and direct nursing assistants and support staff, including performance appraisals and progressive discipline as needed.
- Manage daily unit operations including staffing, scheduling, supply utilization, and fiscal oversight in collaboration with the nurse director.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, attend and lead codes per policy, and prioritize patient needs based on acuity and urgency.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure unit compliance with mandatory education, policies, and professional standards.
### What we're looking for
- Current RN license with demonstrated clinical nursing proficiency in Progressive Care or ICU settings.
- Supervision experience with the ability to lead a team, manage human resources, and resolve staff conflicts.
- Strong abstract reasoning skills for patient assessment, care plan evaluation, and outcome-based revision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based programs; Cerner experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing; additional languages preferred.
- Demonstrated fiscal awareness and ability to manage hours, overtime, and supply costs in collaboration with unit leadership.
