About this role
A Patient Care Technician is needed for the Behavioral Geriatric Treatment Unit at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Glenoaks in Glendale Heights, Illinois.
### What you'll do
- Perform patient care treatments per policy, adapting to patient age, mobility, acuity, and cultural needs on a 36-hour-per-week night shift (7p–7a)
- Assist the registered nurse team in delivering bedside care, documenting all procedures in accordance with department policy
- Participate in obtaining nursing histories and report abnormal findings to the supervising RN
- Respond appropriately during clinical emergencies and follow prescribed isolation and infection-control protocols
- Maintain a clean, safe environment for patients and staff on the behavioral geriatric unit
- Support quality standards and participate in practice changes driven by performance improvement initiatives
### What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Active BLS/CPR certification (required)
- One of the following active credentials: CNA, CPCT/A, or EMT (required)
- At least 1 year of PCT or equivalent patient-care experience (preferred)
- Prior bedside experience in an acute care setting, or experience as a unit secretary or monitor technician (preferred)
- Experience working with geriatric or dementia populations (preferred)
