About this role
A Patient Care Technician in the Emergency Department at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth serves patients at the Hinsdale, Illinois campus under the direction of registered nurses.
### What you'll do
- Perform patient care treatments per policy, adapting to patient age, mobility, acuity, and cultural needs
- Assist the nursing team with bedside care delivery, including obtaining nursing histories and reporting abnormal findings to the RN
- Respond appropriately during clinical emergencies and support unit safety protocols
- Follow isolation guidelines, use personal protective equipment correctly, and enforce infection-control standards
- Document and report all procedures in accordance with department policy
- Maintain a clean, safe environment for patients and staff while communicating effectively with patients, families, and the care team
### What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Minimum 1 year of PCT or equivalent acute-care bedside experience
- Active BLS/CPR certification (required)
- One of the following active credentials: CNA, CPCT/A, or EMT
- Demonstrated ability to function in a fast-paced emergency environment with rotating weekends and holidays
