About this role

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at AdventHealth Hinsdale in Hinsdale, Illinois. ### What you'll do - Perform thorough, ongoing patient assessments and develop individualized, evidence-based care plans. - Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, documenting all actions in accordance with safety protocols. - Ensure safe handoff communication during shift transitions, following CDC isolation guidelines and PPE standards. - Educate patients and families on health conditions, care plans, and procedures tailored to assessed needs. - Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support timely patient admission, discharge, and transfer. - Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring patient rights are respected throughout all care interactions. ### What we're looking for - Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois (required). - Associate's Degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred). - Minimum 1 year of experience in an acute care hospital setting. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (required). - Demonstrated critical thinking skills appropriate to progressive care patient acuity. ### What's included - Pay range: $33.60–$56.52/hour ($69,888–$117,562 annualized). - Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance effective Day One. - Paid time off from Day One and 4 weeks of 100% paid parental leave. - 403(b) retirement plan. - Career development resources and whole-person well-being support. ### About the practice AdventHealth Hinsdale is part of UChicago Medicine AdventHealth, a faith-based health system serving the greater Chicago area with a mission centered on whole-person care. The PCU operates on a 36-hour night shift schedule (6:30 PM–7:00 AM) with rotating weekends and holidays, providing step-down level care for patients transitioning from critical care or requiring closer monitoring than a standard medical-surgical floor.
