About this role
A Histotechnologist II role on the night shift (Mon–Fri, 10 pm–6:30 am) at AdventHealth Diagnostic Pathology in Orlando, Florida.
### What you'll do
- Process and conduct analytical activities on surgical, cytology, and body fluid specimens including embedding, microtomy, routine and special histologic staining, frozen sectioning, and cover slipping.
- Perform immunohistochemical staining, document quality control, and maintain instrumentation and reagent supplies.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment; troubleshoot issues affecting test performance, accuracy, and reporting.
- Register, order, and accession pathology specimens into computer systems following established procedures.
- Act as preceptor and mentor for new employees, histology students, and laboratory support staff.
- Participate in proficiency testing programs and ensure compliance with safety policies, Chemical Hygiene plans, and infection control protocols.
### What we're looking for
- 2+ years of experience as a histotechnologist or in a histology laboratory setting.
- Associate's degree (required) or Bachelor's degree (preferred) in a chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science field meeting Florida or multi-state CLIA education requirements.
- Completion of a ABHES- or CAAHEP-accredited clinical laboratory training program.
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex histological procedures, record and analyze data, and troubleshoot instruments.
- Up-to-date knowledge of specimen handling from accession through storage, including hazardous waste handling and PPE compliance.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and basic Microsoft Office applications.
