About this role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time Histotechnologist II at its Diagnostic Pathology lab located at 2855 North Orange Ave, Orlando, Florida. ### What you'll do - Process and analyze surgical, cytology, and body fluid specimens through embedding, microtomy, routine and special histologic staining, frozen sectioning, and cover slipping - Perform immunohistochemical staining and document quality control for instrumentation and supplies - Conduct quality control testing, equipment maintenance, and troubleshoot issues affecting test performance or reporting accuracy - Register, order, and accession pathology specimens into laboratory information systems - Serve as a preceptor for new employees and histology students, providing mentoring and leadership to lab support staff - Adhere to safety policies including PPE use, hazardous chemical handling, and the facility Chemical Hygiene and Infection Control plans ### What we're looking for - 2+ years of experience as a histotechnologist or in a histology laboratory setting (required) - Associate's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science from an accredited institution (required); Bachelor's preferred - Completion of a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited clinical laboratory training program - Proficiency in complex histological procedures including immunohistochemistry, special stains, and frozen sections - Knowledge of specimen handling from accession to storage and familiarity with medical terminology - Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to maintain analytical accuracy, precision, and sensitivity ### What's included - Sign-on bonus of $15,000 for candidates with more than 1 year of experience; $5,000 for candidates with less than 1 year - Relocation bonus of $3,000 for eligible candidates - Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance effective Day One - Paid time off starting Day One; 4 weeks of 100% paid parental leave - 403(b) retirement plan - CME and career development resources; mental health and whole-person well-being support ### About the practice AdventHealth is a faith-based, not-for-profit health system operating across multiple states with a mission rooted in whole-person care. The Orlando Diagnostic Pathology lab supports a high-volume health system with a wide range of histologic and cytologic services. The Tuesday–Saturday day shift (4:00 AM–12:30 PM) provides a consistent schedule within a structured laboratory environment.
