About this role
A Surgical Aide II supports perioperative teams at AdventHealth Heart of Florida in Davenport, Florida, assisting with surgical case preparation, patient transport, and sterile field support under RN and surgeon direction.
### What you'll do
- Monitor cases for infection control compliance, including correct opening of sterile supplies and identifying breaks in sterile technique
- Prepare patients for procedures as directed by the RN and communicate pertinent patient information throughout the care continuum
- Function as retractor, camera, or limb holder at the sterile field under direction of the RN, Scrub Tech, and/or Surgeon
- Ensure safe transport, transfer, and positioning of patients using proper body mechanics while maintaining patient privacy and dignity
- Manage accurate case picking, instrument preparation, and appropriate disposition of supplies, labs, and specimens
- Support efficient OR turnovers using knowledge of cleaning protocols for specialty surgical equipment
### What we're looking for
- BLS/CPR certification (required)
- Knowledge of sterile technique and operating room environment
- Experience working with patients in an acute care setting (preferred)
- PCT experience relevant to the role (preferred)
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to follow complex instructions
