About this role
A Registration Specialist (PRN, Days) at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth serves the patient access function at AdventHealth GlenOaks in Glendale Heights, Illinois.
### What you'll do
- Register patients for all services, collecting accurate demographic and insurance information to minimize duplicate medical records
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain pre-authorizations, and coordinate with utilization management staff on coverage issues
- Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage as required
- Generate patient financial responsibility estimates, collect payments, and establish payment plans
- Manage communication across clinical, ancillary, and consumer access departments to support a smooth patient experience
- Perform cashiering functions including collections and cash reconciliation, and provide PBX/switchboard coverage as needed
### What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- 1+ year of customer service, healthcare, or revenue cycle experience preferred
- Working knowledge of EMR systems and Microsoft Office; basic-to-intermediate medical terminology
- Familiarity with CMS, EMTALA, and HIPAA regulations and the ability to handle confidential patient information with discretion
- Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) preferred
### What's included
- Pay range: $17.99–$27.88/hr (~$37,419–$59,862 annualized)
- PRN scheduling with alternating start times between 5:30 am and 8:00 am, 8-hour shifts
- Rotating weekends and holidays
