About this role
AdventHealth Palm Coast is hiring a full-time Laboratory Assistant I for night shift with rotating weekends at its Palm Coast, Florida hospital.
### What you'll do
- Collect blood specimens via phlebotomy and skin puncture across all age groups, and process samples through centrifugation and aliquoting.
- Receive, accession, and transport patient specimens to testing departments, including loading preanalytical instruments.
- Perform cytopreparatory staining, accession surgical cases, and set up primary specimen cultures by inoculating petri dishes.
- Conduct point-of-care testing with associated quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting, and result documentation.
- Clean and disinfect laboratory equipment, maintain inventory, and manage supply stocking.
- Handle and transport hazardous biological and chemical waste per Chemical Hygiene and Infection Control policies.
### What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); Technical/Vocational School training preferred.
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program preferred.
- Phlebotomy Technician certification (PBT-ASCP) or Medical Lab Associate (MLA-ASCP) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle infectious specimens, caustics, and toxic chemicals safely.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office; ability to learn laboratory information systems.
- Strong customer service and communication skills in English, written and verbal.

The Palm Coast campus provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services to residents of Flagler County and surrounding areas. The laboratory team operates around the clock supporting clinical care across the facility.
