About this role
UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is hiring a full-time Laboratory Supervisor at its Glenoaks campus in Glendale Heights, Illinois, on a Monday–Friday day shift (5:00 am–1:30 pm).
### What you'll do
- Supervise daily laboratory operations including pre-analytical activities, specimen collection, processing, equipment maintenance, and inventory control.
- Lead performance improvement initiatives and monitor staff performance, scheduling, and workload assignments.
- Assist department leadership with interviewing, onboarding, training, coaching, and competency assessment of laboratory and phlebotomy staff.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements; enforce safety policies including PPE use, hazardous waste handling, and handwashing protocols.
- Coordinate clinical education experiences for students in affiliated programs and participate in departmental committees and special projects.
- Address customer service issues and phlebotomy complaints, escalating through established channels as needed.
### What we're looking for
- Minimum 2 years of related laboratory experience (required); 3+ years of technical experience preferred.
- 1+ year of leadership or management experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge of phlebotomy practices and ability to evaluate effectiveness and outcomes.
- Proficiency in standard computer applications including Microsoft Office.
- BLS/CPR certification preferred; driver's license preferred.
