About this role

A Histotechnician role at AdventHealth Diagnostic Pathology in Orlando, Florida, supporting surgical and cytology specimen processing on a Saturday–Wednesday day shift. ### What you'll do - Register, accession, and process pathology specimens including surgical tissue, body fluids, and cytology samples into laboratory information systems. - Perform embedding, microtomy, routine and special histologic staining, frozen sectioning, and cover slipping on irreplaceable tissue specimens. - Assist pathologists with frozen section preparations and Fine Needle Aspiration procedures. - Perform or support Immunohistochemistry (IHC) testing and maintain quality control documentation for staining solutions. - Operate automated histology equipment in accordance with lab procedures and manufacturer instructions. - Handle, transport, and dispose of hazardous chemicals and biological waste in compliance with federal, state, and CLIA regulatory guidelines. ### What we're looking for - High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in a laboratory or biological science preferred. - HT(ASCP) or MLT(ASCP)/MLS(ASCP) certification preferred. - 1+ year of technical experience in a histology laboratory setting preferred; candidates with less than one year are also considered. - Demonstrated proficiency in specimen processing, microtomy, and histologic staining techniques. - Knowledge of medical terminology and current histology practice standards. - Ability to safely handle hazardous waste with required initial and refresher training completed prior to independent handling. ### What's included - Pay range: $21.56–$40.09/hour (~$44,845–$83,387 annualized). - Sign-on bonus: $10,000 for candidates with 1+ year of experience; $5,000 for candidates with less than 1 year. - Relocation bonus: $3,000 for eligible candidates. - Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance effective from day one. - Paid time off from day one and 4 weeks of 100% paid parental leave. - 403(b) retirement plan. ### About the practice AdventHealth Diagnostic Pathology is part of AdventHealth, a faith-based not-for-profit health system operating across multiple states with a mission centered on whole-person care.
