A Patient Care Technician on the Orthopedic unit at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange provides direct bedside support under registered nurse supervision at the La Grange, Illinois campus.
### What you'll do
- Perform patient care treatments per policy, adapting to patient age, mobility, acuity, and cultural needs
- Assist the RN team with delivery of direct patient care and document all procedures per department policy
- Participate in obtaining nursing histories and report abnormalities to the registered nurse
- Follow isolation protocols, use personal protective equipment appropriately, and enforce safety regulations
- Maintain a clean, safe environment for patients and staff on the orthopedic unit
- Respond appropriately during clinical emergencies and support performance improvement initiatives
### What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Minimum 1 year of applicable PCT experience; prior bedside care in an acute care setting preferred
- Active BLS/CPR certification (required)
- One of the following credentials: CNA, CPCT/A, or EMT (required)
- Effective communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and skill development
