About this role

AdventHealth Tampa is hiring a full-time Certified Surgical First Assistant to support operative teams at its hospital campus in Tampa, Florida. ### What you'll do - Set up operating suites using surgeon preference cards and maintain accurate, up-to-date card records. - Provide intraoperative visualization through tissue retraction, sponging, suction, and irrigation. - Achieve hemostasis using appropriate techniques and assist with wound closure, dressing application, and drainage-system placement. - Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment throughout procedures, anticipating surgeon needs in real time. - Perform instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator and participate in surgical time-out and patient-verification protocols. - Maintain strict aseptic technique, monitor team compliance, and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization after each case. ### What we're looking for - Active Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) credential — required. - Current BLS/CPR certification — required. - High school diploma or equivalent — required; Associate degree preferred. - Minimum 2 years of relevant surgical first-assistant experience preferred. - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential preferred. - Working knowledge of surgical anatomy, asepsis, operative techniques, and applicable regulatory/accreditation standards. ### What's included - Pay range: $28.68–$53.35/hr (~$59,654–$110,968 annualized). - Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance effective Day One. - Paid time off from Day One. - 403(b) retirement plan. - Four weeks of fully paid parental leave. - Mental health resources, whole-person well-being programs, and pet benefits. ### About the practice AdventHealth Tampa is a full-service acute-care hospital located at 3100 E.
