Practice Highlights
- Full perioperative scope: pre-operative assessment and care planning, intraoperative scrub and circulating duties, and post-operative evaluation
- Individualized perioperative care plans developed and maintained for each patient throughout the surgical episode
- Strict adherence to surgical safety protocols including site verification, time-out procedures, and accurate surgical counts
- Medication administration and specimen management per institutional policy
- Monitoring and maintenance of critical physiologic systems — cardiac, respiratory, and neurological — during procedures
- Patient and family education, emotional support, and advocacy integrated throughout the perioperative experience
- Accurate interdisciplinary documentation and active communication with the surgical team
- Participation in ongoing performance improvement and quality initiatives
- Preferred subspecialty exposure includes trauma, neurosurgery, spine, orthopedics, and vascular procedures
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience in an acute care setting required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current RN license in the state of Arizona (or eligibility to obtain)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- CNOR certification preferred
- PALS certification preferred where applicable
- Subspecialty OR experience in trauma, neuro, spine, ortho, or vascular procedures strongly preferred
