A Level I Trauma Center in Ocala, Florida is recruiting a full-time Chief Anesthesiologist to lead a large, established Anesthesia Care Team at a 323-bed academic-affiliated hospital. This is a rare dual-site leadership role that blends clinical practice with administrative responsibility, a UCF School of Medicine residency program, and a subspecialty case mix that includes cardiac, neurosurgery, vascular, robotics, and trauma — with no OB and no pediatrics. The position offers a $150,000 start-date bonus, day-one health benefits, and a schedule structured so that physicians carry home call only, with CRNAs in-house overnight.

  • Subspecialty case mix: cardiac (dedicated separate team), orthopedics, general surgery, neurosurgery, vascular, endoscopy, GYN, robotic surgery, and trauma — no OB, no pediatrics
  • Separate dedicated trauma call coverage — no night or weekend trauma call required of the Chief or standard physician team
  • Home call model for physicians; CRNAs provide in-house overnight coverage
  • Academic affiliation with UCF College of Medicine — 27 rotating anesthesia residents on site, with GME program coordination as a Chief responsibility
  • Strong collaborative relationship with surgical staff across all service lines
  • Chief responsibilities include departmental development, hospital committee participation, staffing and scheduling oversight, GME Program Director coordination, and talent management within the department

Qualifications

  • Board certification or board eligibility in Anesthesiology (American Board of Anesthesiology)
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency
  • Active Florida medical license or demonstrated eligibility to obtain (licensure assistance provided)
  • Clinical breadth across the full adult subspecialty case mix: cardiac, neurosurgery, vascular, robotics, trauma, and general surgery
  • Demonstrated or developing leadership experience — ability to communicate effectively with hospital administration, manage scheduling, and delegate committee responsibilities
  • Comfort functioning as GME liaison and coordinating with residency program leadership
