The fellowship is led by Mohamed Bakr, M.D., MBA, FACP, CPE — Vice President of Hospital Medicine, East Region, and attending physician at JSUMC — offering direct mentorship from a nationally recognized physician executive. This is a rare, purpose-built pathway for a clinician who wants to shape the future of hospital medicine leadership.

Qualifications

  • Clinical background in Hospital Medicine or an equivalent inpatient specialty — the program is designed to bridge clinical expertise and administrative leadership
  • Demonstrated interest in healthcare leadership, operations, and strategic decision-making
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills consistent with the program's emphasis on emotional intelligence and social integration
  • New Jersey medical licensure or eligibility to obtain required for clinical components of the fellowship
  • Competitive applicants will show evidence of leadership initiative, academic achievement, or prior administrative engagement
