Practice Highlights

  • Advanced HIM functions including document imaging (prepping, scanning, quality review, validation, and indexing), chart analysis, and data integrity work

  • Chart pickup (rounding), reconciliation, record retrieval, record filing, and continuity-of-care request processing
  • Productivity metrics tracking and time monitoring for document imaging and document analysis functions
  • Coordination with internal departments and outside agencies to prioritize and fulfill patient record information requests
  • Pleasant indoor work environment with light physical effort; role requires extended periods of computer use and sustained mental concentration

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Preferred: Two or more years of experience in a hospital Health Information Management department
  • Preferred credential: RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and keyboard operations required; comfort navigating electronic health record systems essential
  • Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA privacy and security requirements and patient confidentiality obligations
  • Vital statistics knowledge (birth certificate completion, paternity acknowledgement) preferred
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing tasks, and maintain productivity standards in a fast-paced environment
  • Candidates must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing
  • Pre-employment vaccination and screening confirmation required as applicable and permitted by law, which may include COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; ability to sit for extended periods and operate standard computer peripherals
