About the Community
Walterboro sits in the South Carolina Lowcountry, roughly 45 miles southwest of Charleston — close enough to access a major metropolitan area while offering a distinctly slower pace, lower cost of living, and a tight-knit community feel. The region is known for its natural beauty, including the ACE Basin, one of the largest undeveloped estuaries on the East Coast, along with hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation that draw residents year-round. Walterboro's historic downtown, affordable housing, and proximity to Charleston's beaches, dining, and airport make it an appealing base for physicians who want quality of life without the cost and congestion of a large city.
