About the Community
El Paso delivers more than 300 days of sunshine annually, a low cost of living, and no state income tax — a combination that stretches compensation further than most comparable metro areas. The city ranks consistently among the safest large cities in the United States and offers strong public schools, Division I universities, and private colleges, making it a natural fit for physicians raising families. Outdoor recreation is exceptional and immediate: the Franklin Mountains, Guadalupe Mountains National Park, and the Rio Grande provide year-round hiking, climbing, and river access within minutes of the city. A thriving cultural scene — festivals, historic sites, and a rich culinary tradition rooted in the borderland — rounds out a quality of life that is genuinely difficult to replicate elsewhere in the Southwest.
