- House Supervisor serves as the hospital's senior administrative representative on shift — primary point of contact for staff, physicians, patients, families, and administration when Department Directors are off-site
- Responsible for acuity management, real-time staffing adjustments, bed assignments, and coordination of all patient admissions including inter-facility transfers
- Oversees clinical, demographic, and third-party payor information and authorization processes at the point of admission
- Serves as liaison among nursing staff, medical staff, case managers, and administration — including direct interaction with admitting physicians on admission appropriateness and discharge planning
- Participates in hospital-wide process improvement activities and utilization management review, including observation chart review for medical necessity
- Provides first-line coaching, performance feedback, and conflict resolution for nursing staff; supports new employee orientation with a focus on customer service, accountability, and clinical skills
- Identifies and implements strategies to reduce waste in supplies, equipment, and linen use while maintaining patient care standards
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school required; BSN preferred
- Minimum three years of relevant clinical nursing experience required
- Management experience and at least one year of supervisory experience preferred
- Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Arizona required
- CPR and ACLS required; ACLS must be obtained within six months of hire if not held at time of hire
- PALS certification preferred
- Demonstrated ability to make independent, high-stakes decisions in high-stress situations with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in interpersonal communication, team building, change management, and departmental budget oversight; computer skills preferred
