AdventHealth Tampa is building its Anesthesiology Residency Program from the ground up and needs a founding Program Director to lead it. This is a rare ground-floor opportunity in Tampa, FL — a 626-bed tertiary referral center with a broad subspecialty case mix, an established and growing GME infrastructure, and full institutional support for ACGME accreditation targeting a July 2027 launch. Associate Program Directors with 3–5 years of experience will also be considered for a parallel leadership role.

- Founding role: full authority and accountability for building and operating a new 3-year ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency Program (PGY-2 through PGY-4 / CA-1 through CA-3)
- Program targets 6 anesthesia residents per year once accreditation is achieved; ACGME application process begins immediately
- During the application and pre-accreditation phase: approximately 80% administrative / 20% clinical split; once the program is established, the split shifts to approximately 60% clinical/teaching and 40% administrative
- Anesthesia care team of 21 MDs and 40 APPs covering 31 operative sites per day — a robust platform for resident training volume
- Broad case mix supporting comprehensive residency training: general, regional, cardiac, obstetrics, neuro, endoscopy, cath lab, orthopedics, spine, vascular, radiology, ENT, urology, and pediatrics

- Program Director responsibilities include shepherding the ACGME application, developing curriculum, policies, and procedures, maintaining accreditation and state approvals, recruiting residents, and executing competency evaluations
- Participation in clinical daily duties and call alongside administrative and teaching responsibilities
Qualifications
- Board certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) required
- Prior experience as a Program Director, Assistant Program Director, or Core Faculty member in an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology program required
- Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience in graduate medical education
- Associate Program Director candidates considered with a minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience
- Active Florida medical license or eligibility to obtain
