Practice Highlights

  • Responsible for recording, transmitting, and filing written and verbal communications to and from nursing staff, physicians, and patients
  • Transcribes physician orders and maintains current, orderly chart files
  • Schedules and signs patients in and out for surgery, treatments, and diagnostic tests
  • Manages unit supply ordering and storage; coordinates special orders for physicians, patients, and nurses
  • Assembles patient charts for transfers and discharges; assists with patient care and quality assurance audits
  • Serves as front-line point of contact — answers telephone and intercom, greets and directs visitors, relays messages
  • Supports physicians in locating patient charts and connecting with the appropriate primary nurse
  • Hospital service lines include obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology (cath lab and electrophysiology), cancer care, neuroscience (Brainlab technology, stroke treatment), and weight loss surgery

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Familiarity with medical terminology required
  • Proficiency with computer systems required
  • Previous experience as a Unit Secretary preferred
  • No certifications required for this role
