A Level I Trauma Center emergency department in Kansas City, Missouri is seeking a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician for locum tenens coverage. This 40-bed ED handles 42,000–46,000 annual visits at a high-acuity urban facility with dual helicopter landing pads, Level I STEMI designation, and a comprehensive stroke center — one of the most fully resourced emergency environments in the region. Practice Highlights

  • Annual ED volume of 42,000–46,000 visits; patients per hour averaging 2.5–3.5
  • 40-bed emergency department including a dedicated Rapid Care Path track
  • Level I Trauma Center with multiple ambulance bays and two helicopter landing pads
  • Level I STEMI-receiving center and certified Comprehensive Stroke Center
  • 40 hours of physician coverage daily across four overlapping shifts: 6a–4p, 10a–8p, 3p–1a, and 8p–6a; additional shift being added
  • Daily APP coverage supporting physician workflow throughout all shifts
  • EMR: Meditech
  • Robust on-call backup specialty coverage including Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Labor & Delivery, OB/GYN, Neurology, Orthopedics, Pulmonary, Surgery, and Urology
  • Specialized programs on campus: Grossman Burn Center, GI Center of Excellence, Traumatic Brain Injury program, TIA program, 24-hour Obstetrics ER, Level III NICU, Transplant Institute, Center for the Relief of Pain, and Orthopedics/Sports Medicine
  • Oncology services delivered in partnership with Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute

Qualifications

  • Board certification in Emergency Medicine required
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Emergency Medicine residency
  • Active Missouri medical license or eligibility to obtain
  • Comfort managing the full acuity spectrum of a high-volume Level I Trauma and STEMI-receiving center
