Practice Highlights
- Full-time nights schedule within an established, high-acuity respiratory care department
- Performs comprehensive diagnostic cardiopulmonary testing, medication administration, and therapeutic treatments per established protocols
- Responds to emergency situations across the hospital, including code and rapid-response events
- Operates and performs quality control on respiratory care equipment, including i-STAT point-of-care blood gas analyzers
- Prepares electronic documentation of all services rendered and provides written and verbal handoff reports to oncoming staff
- Coverage opportunities may include adult, pediatric, and NICU patient populations depending on assignment
- Part of a system that includes six full-service hospitals, a specialized children's hospital with a dedicated pediatric emergency unit, a comprehensive cancer care network, imaging centers, and ambulatory services
- Participates in departmental Performance Improvement activities and maintains regulatory compliance competencies
- Works under the direction of the Medical Director, Department Director, and Coordinator/Team Leader
Qualifications
- Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Care Program required
- Current Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) state license required
- Current CRT or RRT certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required; renewal every five years unless grandfathered prior to July 1, 2002
- Active Healthcare Provider BLS (ARC or AHA) required at hire; AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire
- AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role
- AHA PALS required within 60 days of hire or transfer if covering pediatric patients
- AHA NRP required within 60 days of hire or transfer if covering NICU
- Prior hospital respiratory care experience preferred
