Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas is hiring a full-time, rotating Food Service Worker to support patient tray preparation, retail food service, and catering operations within its Dietary department. This role is a direct contributor to patient care and daily hospital operations at a health system with more than 120 years of community service, six full-service hospitals, a specialized children's hospital, and a comprehensive cancer care network across the greater San Antonio region.

Practice Highlights
- Full-time, rotating schedule covering varied shifts across the week
- Patient tray assembly and delivery — directly serving patients across multiple inpatient units
- Retail food sales and catering support in addition to patient-feeding responsibilities
- Food preparation duties including chopping, slicing, and peeling
- Cart transport to and from patient care units; snack and tray delivery to bedside
- Dishwashing and sanitation of pots, pans, and dishes by hand and by machine
- Equipment operation, cleaning, and sanitation per department standards
- Housekeeping duties within the department: sweeping, mopping, trash collection and disposal
- Stocking and cleaning of nourishment rooms and refrigerators as assigned
- Adherence to all local, state, and federal food safety regulations; participation in Performance Improvement activities
- Part of a large integrated health system including six full-service hospitals, a dedicated pediatric hospital with a pediatric emergency unit, a comprehensive cancer care network, imaging centers, fitness and rehabilitation centers, and the Baptist School of Health Professions
Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and understand the English language (minimum requirement)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- One year of experience in a patient-feeding food service establishment preferred
- Required certification: ANSI Accredited Texas Food Handler certification, ANSI Accredited Food Manager course, or Certified Food Manager credential from the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District
