Baptist Health System in San Antonio, Texas is recruiting an experienced Cardiovascular Technologist (CV Tech) to join the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Saint Luke's Hospital — a full-service acute care facility embedded within a six-hospital regional health system with more than 120 years of community care history. This role offers hands-on involvement in complex hemodynamic monitoring and interventional procedures across a broad patient population, from adolescents through geriatrics, with an added training and mentorship component for incoming Cath Lab personnel. Practice Highlights
- Performs hemodynamic monitoring procedures of a highly specialized nature under RN supervision in an active interventional Cath Lab environment
- Directly assists the physician during all cardiac catheterization and related procedures
- Monitors cardiac procedures and calculates hemodynamic data in real time
- Supports nursing personnel during emergency procedures within the lab
- Patient population spans adolescents through geriatrics, providing broad clinical exposure
- Assumes monitor tech responsibilities as needed, adding procedural versatility to the role
- Responsible for equipment maintenance, quality control, and instrument cleaning and packaging for sterilization
- Formal training and mentorship role: trains incoming Cardiovascular Technicians and other Cath Lab personnel
- Part of a six-hospital regional system that also includes a specialized children's hospital with dedicated pediatric emergency unit, a comprehensive cancer care network, imaging centers, fitness and rehabilitation centers, and ambulatory services
- Affiliated with the Baptist School of Health Professions, supporting an active academic and training culture
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved cardiovascular technology program or equivalent education required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an interventional Cardiac Catheterization Lab or 2 years of Electrophysiology (EP) experience required
- Active RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) certification required
- Current BLS certification required at time of hire
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire
- Ability to complete all established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period
