Practice Highlights
- Obstetrics unit within a full-service acute care medical center serving the Rio Grande Valley region
- Direct clinical patient care role with per-shift accountability for assigned OB patients across assessment, planning, and implementation of care
- Responsible for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process, from admission through discharge at optimum care level
- Medication administration per hospital policy with emphasis on safety and timeliness
- Supervision and delegation responsibilities for supporting clinical staff on the unit
- Accountable to CNO for quality, safety, clinical staff competency, and appropriate resource management
- Practice governed by established standards in safety, risk management, quality improvement, and infection control
- HICS (Hospital Incident Command System) participation required during emergency and disaster events; familiarity with all hospital emergency codes expected

Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required); Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing preferred
- Current, active Texas RN license (or eligibility to obtain) required
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and/or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required as applicable per unit policy — NRP directly relevant to OB hire
- S.T.A.B.L.E. program certification required
- Recent acute care experience preferred; OB or labor and delivery background a strong asset
