Practice Highlights
- Full-time nights schedule in an active Emergency Department setting
- Charge Nurse role carries dual responsibility: direct bedside patient care and unit-level leadership on every shift
- Oversees patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to ensure smooth, efficient patient throughput
- Delegates assignments to support staff based on training level and patient acuity; provides real-time supervision and mentorship
- Collaborates directly with physicians and administrators to maintain care quality, communicate protocol changes, and coordinate the medical plan
- Mentors and trains new staff; serves as a resource and support anchor for the entire nursing team on shift
- Responsible for compliance with health and safety regulations, infection control, risk management, and quality improvement standards
- Administers medications safely and on schedule per hospital policy; maintains accurate clinical documentation
- Fulfills Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) responsibilities during emergencies and disaster activations
- Part of a five-hospital system — including a dedicated children's hospital — that has served the El Paso region since 1902
- Reports to the appropriate clinical leader with CNO oversight, ensuring accountability and professional support at the highest level
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required); Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing preferred
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; Emergency Department experience strongly aligned with this role
- Current, active RN licensure in the state of Texas (or eligibility to obtain)
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required as applicable per unit policy
- Demonstrated ability to lead, delegate, and mentor nursing staff in a fast-paced acute care environment
