Practice Highlights

  • Telemetry unit within a full-service acute care medical center serving the Rio Grande Valley region
  • Direct clinical patient care with per-shift responsibility for assigned patient panels
  • Accountable for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process
  • Medication administration in accordance with hospital policy, with emphasis on safety and timeliness
  • Care delivery aligned with established standards of safety, risk management, quality improvement, and infection control — with a goal of optimum patient discharge outcomes
  • Supervisory responsibility for staff to whom appropriate care is delegated
  • Supports CNO-level priorities: high-quality, safe nursing care; clinical staff competency; and appropriate resource management
  • Active role in Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) responsibilities during emergency and disaster events

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required); Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing preferred
  • Current, active Texas RN license or eligibility to obtain licensure in the state of practice
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and/or PALS and/or NRP as required by corporate policy for the telemetry unit of hire
  • Recent acute care experience preferred
  • Familiarity with emergency code protocols and HICS responsibilities in an acute care setting
