Practice Highlights

  • Direct clinical patient care in an acute care emergency department setting
  • Full-shift accountability for patient assessment, care planning, and implementation across assigned patients
  • Responsible for safe and timely medication administration per hospital policy
  • Supervision and delegation of care to appropriate support staff on a per-shift basis
  • Accountable to the CNO for quality, safety, and appropriate resource management in nursing care delivery
  • Adherence to established standards in safety, risk management, quality improvement, and infection control
  • Active participation in Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) responsibilities during emergencies and disaster events
  • Part of a regional medical center system serving the Rio Grande Valley since the early 1920s, with a mission rooted in compassionate, faith-inspired care

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN or MSN preferred)
  • Current Texas RN license or eligibility to obtain licensure in the state of Texas
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required per unit policy; PALS/ENPC, TNCC, and CPI certifications required as applicable by corporate policy for the ED unit
  • Recent acute care experience preferred; emergency department experience a strong asset
