<h3>Practice Highlights</h3> <ul> <li>Full-cycle patient access responsibilities: scheduling, pre-admission, admission, registration, reception, and discharge</li> <li>Cross-trained and deployed in at least two Patient Access service areas, including the Emergency Department</li> <li>Completes comprehensive patient registration at date of service, including securing all required legal and consent forms (Advance Directives, Conditions of Service, Consent for Treatment, Important Message from Medicare, EMTALA)</li> <li>Performs insurance verification, benefits and eligibility checks, and obtains prior authorizations for both scheduled and unscheduled hospital services</li> <li>Conducts medical necessity checks and verifications in accordance with CMS requirements; secures inpatient visit notifications to payors</li> <li>Manages patient financial liability education and employs compliant collection techniques before, during, and after date of service</li> <li>Performs hospital cash reconciliation and secured payment entry per financial and cash control policies</li> <li>Assists with scheduling diagnostic procedures and coordinating post-discharge care as needed</li> <li>Scans and manages Protected Health Information; creates and maintains patient information packets and folders for upcoming services</li> <li>Works within a hospital administration environment with potential exposure to high patient volumes and acute care settings</li> </ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred</li> <li>0–1 year of customer service experience; 0–1 year of administrative experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or related field preferred</li> <li>Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute</li> <li>Demonstrated proficiency with PC, CRT, and printer operations</li> <li>Ability to interpret physician orders, medical terminology, and insurance cards accurately</li> <li>Working knowledge of third-party payor requirements and healthcare compliance standards preferred</li> <li>Ability to perform essential duties across at least two Patient Access service areas, including the Emergency Department</li> <li>Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders</li> <li>Proficient use of negotiation techniques for professional patient/guarantor collections</li> <li>Physical requirements include extended computer terminal use, occasional lifting up to 25 lbs, prolonged standing and walking, and occasional wheelchair assistance for patients</li> </ul>
