Practice Highlights

  • Emergency Department RN role with direct, hands-on patient care responsibility each shift
  • Accountable for full nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of assigned patients
  • Responsible for safe, timely medication administration in accordance with hospital policy
  • Supervises and delegates care to appropriate support staff on the unit
  • Operates within established standards of safety, risk management, quality improvement, and infection control protocols
  • Participates in Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) responsibilities during emergencies and disaster events
  • Supports CNO-level accountability for nursing care quality, clinical staff competency, and resource management
  • Part of a mission-driven health system with a century-long presence in the Rio Grande Valley community

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required); Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing preferred
  • Active Texas RN license or eligibility to obtain licensure in the state of practice
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and/or NRP and/or STABLE certification required if applicable per corporate policy for the emergency department unit
  • Recent acute care experience preferred; emergency department background is a strong asset
