Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Active Texas State Registered Nurse license required at time of hire
- No minimum experience required; two years of acute care experience preferred, with prior clinical background in med/surg, telemetry, or ICU particularly valued
- Active Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire (ARC or AHA); AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into the Telemetry role — ideally before the end of the orientation period
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 60 days for nurses transferring into a Pediatric ICU role
- AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 60 days for nurses entering a NICU role
- S.T.A.B.L.E. certification for NICU/Level 2 Nursery nurses must be completed within 6 months of hire or transfer (prior completion accepted; renewal not required)
