Practice Highlights

  • Greets and registers patients at point of entry using Quick Registration workflows, capturing and verifying demographic data with accuracy
  • Places and verifies patient armbands; completes patient demographic forms in compliance with hospital policy
  • Executes and explains required legal and regulatory documentation including Advance Directives, Conditions of Service, Consent for Treatment, Important Message from Medicare, and EMTALA forms
  • Manages inbound and outbound call volume and performs full PBX telephone system operator functions in accordance with hospital protocols
  • Scans Protected Health Information (PHI) and creates and files patient information packets and folders for upcoming hospital services
  • Adheres to financial and cash control policies and procedures; applies proper negotiation techniques for patient and guarantor collections
  • Resolves issues escalated from physician offices and patients; environment may include high patient volumes and complex patient interactions
  • Works within a hospital administration setting with potential exposure to patient care areas and life-threatening patient conditions

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred
  • 0–1 year of customer service experience required; 0–1 year of administrative experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or related setting preferred
  • Completed coursework in Medical Terminology required
  • Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of PC, CRT terminal, and printer operation
  • Understanding of Third Party Payor requirements and compliance standards preferred
  • Knowledge of hospital department functions and interdepartmental relationships preferred
  • Must be available to work hours and days as needed based on departmental and system demands, including rotating shifts
  • Must meet all pre-employment vaccination and screening requirements as applicable and permitted by law, which may include COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations
  • Physical requirements include extended periods of sitting at a computer terminal, frequent standing and walking, occasional lifting or carrying of items up to 25 lbs, and occasional wheelchair assistance for patients with mobility limitations
