Saint Luke's Hospital — part of the Baptist Health System in San Antonio, Texas — is recruiting an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as Shift Supervisor for its Medical Surgical ICU. Practice Highlights

  • Shift Supervisor role within the MS ICU, providing clinical oversight and leadership across the full shift
  • Serves as unit patient flow coordinator — managing admissions, discharges, and transfers in real time
  • Coordinates next-shift staffing in collaboration with the Director, Clinical Manager, Coordinator, and/or House Officer
  • Functions as a clinical and leadership resource and role model for bedside staff throughout the shift
  • Provides supervisory input into staff evaluations and performance reviews
  • Part of the departmental leadership team — a direct pathway for nurses seeking to grow into formal management
  • System includes six full-service hospitals, a specialized children's hospital with a dedicated pediatric emergency unit, a comprehensive cancer care network, imaging centers, ambulatory services, fitness and rehabilitation centers, and the Baptist School of Health Professions

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing or a related advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum one year of experience in an equivalent unit required; four or more years preferred
  • Active Texas State Registered Nurse license required
  • National Specialty Certification preferred
  • Active Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire (ARC or AHA); AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire
  • ACLS, TNCC, PALS, NRP, S.T.A.B.L.E., Fetal Monitoring, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention required depending on department assignment — see applicable Staff RN job description for grace periods
