Practice Highlights
- Direct supervisory oversight of 18–30 on-duty EMS field staff per rotating 12-hour shift
- Coordinates daily with York County's full public safety network: 18 fire departments, 7 police departments, 3 rescue squads, 911 communications, and Emergency Management Agency
- Administers BLS and ALS procedures at scene; provides additional clinical support during transport of high-acuity patients
- May serve as Lead Paramedic on an ALS ambulance to support system-level staffing needs
- Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) coordination role in conjunction with Unified Command
- Responsible for daily timekeeping, shift scheduling assistance, electronic patient care reporting (ePCR), and resource allocation monitoring
- Conducts performance evaluations, employee recognition, and accountability processes; manages internal and external conflict resolution
- Fleet and logistics oversight: ensures vehicles are fully operational and medical supplies — durable and disposable — are adequately stocked
- Quality management duties spanning prospective, concurrent, and retrospective QM principles
- Community relations responsibilities including public safety education and injury/illness prevention programming
- Affiliated with Piedmont Medical Center Rock Hill (288-bed acute care facility) and Piedmont Medical Center Fort Mill (100-bed, opened 2022), both serving York County and surrounding region
- PMC Rock Hill services include advanced cardiac and stroke care, maternity, and a Level III NICU; PMC Fort Mill features a 24/7 ED, ICU, Medical/Surgical Unit, Surgical Services, and Women's Services
- PMC holds a Leapfrog "A" Hospital Safety Score and the SCHA Certified Zero Harm Award; Cardiac Care program is a Blue Distinction Center (BlueCross BlueShield) and nationally certified by AACVPR
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience required; high school diploma or GED required at minimum
- Active South Carolina Paramedic certification required; National Registry Paramedic (NRP) certification required within one year of hire
- Current BCLS, ACLS, and PALS or PEPP certification required
- NIMS-compliant Incident Command/Incident Management: ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 required; ICS 300 and 400 must be completed within 12 months of hire if not previously held
- Valid South Carolina or North Carolina driver's license required
- Preferred: minimum five years of full-time 911 EMS experience, with at least two years as a Paramedic/FTO with Piedmont Emergency Medical Services
- Preferred certifications: TEEX All Hazards Incident Management; NAEMT EMS Safety Course completion
