<h3>Practice Highlights</h3> <ul> <li>Full scrub-tech role: direct surgical assist to the operating surgeon across a broad case mix, predominantly adult patients (18+), with occasional adolescent, pediatric, and infant cases</li> <li>Responsible for creating and maintaining the sterile field, monitoring and correcting breaks in sterile technique</li> <li>Performs sponge, sharp, and instrument counts per policy; initiates corrective action when counts are incorrect</li> <li>Selects, assembles, and manages instruments, supplies, and equipment based on the specific procedure; anticipates surgeon needs intraoperatively by passing instruments and retracting as needed</li> <li>Handles, labels, and tracks cultures, specimens, drugs, and solutions; reports amounts used to the RN Circulator at case close</li> <li>Maintains open communication with physicians, physician assistants, RN Circulating Nurses, and the broader OR team</li> <li>Responsible for instrument and equipment maintenance; reports malfunctions promptly</li> <li>Community-based hospital with an urban-level specialty mix uncommon for its facility size</li> <li>Large outpatient services footprint: physical medicine, wound care, sleep center, imaging, and two free-standing Emergency Departments serving multiple surrounding communities</li> </ul>

<h3>Qualifications</h3> <ul> <li>Certification as a Surgical Technologist required — accepted credentialing bodies: National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or a U.S. Military surgical technology program</li> <li>High school diploma or GED required</li> <li>AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required</li> <li>Minimum of 1 year of OR experience in the scrub technologist role</li> <li>Effective written and verbal communication in English required; additional language proficiency is a plus</li> </ul>
