Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California is recruiting an experienced Cath Lab Registered Nurse for a per diem, day-shift position within its Desert Care Network — a three-hospital system anchored by a Level 1 Trauma Center and the only Level 3 NICU in the Coachella Valley. Practice Highlights

  • Full-scope Cath Lab RN role covering pre-op, procedural, and recovery phases of patient care
  • Pre-op responsibilities include telephone intake and patient education, pre-procedure assessment and documentation, IV initiation, pre-op medication administration, medication reconciliation, and completion of consent and ACC forms
  • Procedural duties encompass administration of moderate sedation and medications, physiologic monitoring, circulating responsibilities, and emergency procedure support
  • Recovery room duties include patient assessment, continuous monitoring, medication administration per policy, emergency response, and discharge with complete documentation
  • Core procedural competencies required: Right and Left Heart Catheterization, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), intra-coronary stent placement, thrombolysis, and pacemaker procedures
  • Expected to recognize, evaluate, and intervene appropriately in life-threatening cardiac situations
  • Functions as a clinical resource and preceptor for peers, less experienced staff, and nursing students
  • Cross-training and flexibility to work in other nursing areas within the department
  • Participates in department and hospital-wide Performance Improvement (PI) initiatives
  • Part of Desert Care Network — a regional system serving the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin, with advanced service lines including comprehensive stroke care, an oncology center, a Level 1 Trauma Center, and a Level 3 NICU

Qualifications

  • Prior Cath Lab RN experience required
  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — must remain current at all times
  • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification — must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained continuously
  • Must successfully complete an EKG competency test within the first 30 days of hire
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing workflows, and set patient-care priorities in a high-acuity procedural environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
