Practice Highlights
- Full-time nights schedule at Northeast Baptist Hospital, a full-service acute care facility within a six-hospital regional system
- Performs the full spectrum of respiratory care including diagnostic cardiopulmonary testing, medication administration, and therapeutic treatments per established protocols
- Responds to emergency situations and participates in rapid-response and code events
- Operates and performs quality control on all respiratory care equipment, including I-STAT blood gas analyzers
- Prepares electronic documentation of all services rendered and provides written and verbal handoff reports to oncoming staff
- Coverage scope may include adult, pediatric, and NICU patient populations depending on assignment
- Works under the direction of the Medical Director, Department Director, and Coordinator/Team Leader within a collaborative, multidisciplinary care model
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities and maintains ongoing regulatory compliance competencies
- System-wide resources include a dedicated pediatric emergency unit, comprehensive cancer care network, fitness and rehabilitation centers, and ambulatory services
Qualifications
- Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Care Program required
- Current Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) state license required
- Current CRT or RRT certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required; renewal every five years (unless grandfathered prior to July 1, 2002)
- Active Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification on hire (ARC or AHA); AHA Healthcare Provider BLS required within 60 days of hire
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 60 days of hire or transfer if covering pediatric patients
- AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 60 days of hire or transfer if covering NICU
- Prior hospital respiratory care experience preferred
