Practice Highlights

  • Serves as the primary coordinator for all phases of the surgical process, from candidate triage through post-operative care coordination
  • Partners directly with surgeons to obtain medical clearances and ensure preoperative testing aligns with hospital protocols
  • Manages insurance verification and authorization workflows across multiple payer plans prior to scheduled procedures
  • Completes all required hospital forms and coordinates preoperative labs and diagnostic testing scheduling for surgical patients
  • Educates patients on planned surgical procedures, setting expectations and supporting informed consent preparation
  • Manages appointment confirmation and rescheduling to maintain surgical schedule integrity
  • Collaborates with hospital personnel to gather and transmit all information required for surgery scheduling
  • Provides cross-functional support to administrative and clinical staff as operational needs arise
  • Occasional local travel to support satellite or affiliated physician offices

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program required
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential preferred
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a physician office setting
  • Prior surgery scheduling experience strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of electronic insurance verification systems and payer authorization processes
  • Ability to travel locally on an occasional basis to support additional office locations
