Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Sunnyvale is recruiting a PRN Night-shift Respiratory Therapist to join its Cardiopulmonary Services team in Sunnyvale, TX. Practice Highlights
- Full-scope cardiopulmonary services role: oxygen therapy, aerosol and respiratory treatments, mechanical ventilation management, airway management, and tracheal suctioning
- Arterial blood gas collection via arterial puncture and operation of ABG analyzers
- Pulmonary function testing (including bedside PF screeners) with report generation and physician distribution
- EKG performance and reporting per departmental protocol
- Chest physiotherapy and patient pain assessment with appropriate physician escalation
- Ventilator management including associated critical care duties across all age groups — neonate through geriatric — with age-specific dosing and technique adjustments
- Equipment operation includes ABG machines, mechanical ventilators, IPPB devices, EKG equipment, treadmills, and bedside PF screeners
- Patient and family education: individualized teaching plans based on assessed learning needs with documented effectiveness evaluation
- Extensive outpatient services catchment serving Sunnyvale, Forney, Mesquite, Seagoville, and surrounding communities
- Two free-standing Emergency Departments in the regional network, plus sleep center, wound care, imaging, and physical medicine services
Qualifications
- Current State of Texas Respiratory Therapist license required at time of hire
- Minimum Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required; must be RRT-eligible and obtain Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials within six months of hire
- Current BLS certification required at hire; ACLS and PALS certifications required within six months of hire
- Three or more years of experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency with ABG machines, mechanical ventilators, IPPB, EKG equipment, treadmills, and bedside PF screeners
- Ability to perform chest PT; competency across neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional language proficiency a plus
- Basic computer proficiency required for medical record documentation
